Brick has been a design element we’ve been eagerly using for years. It works beautifully not only in loft-style, minimalist, and austere interiors. A brick wall also perfectly complements more classic, even elegant, arrangements. Will the use of brick in interiors change significantly in the 2025 season? Let’s explore the latest trends!
Looking through trend forecasts for interior design, we’ll notice a very clear trend. The world of interior design will begin to prioritize… textures. We’ve already had periods when complete smoothness was fashionable, but now it’s completely different. Architects are already rubbing their hands in glee, as we have an incredibly exciting time ahead of us. Will brick play a leading role in this era? Or will everything change?
A variety of textures is one of the strongest trends. Soon, we’ll be reaching for the rough, raw look of concrete, modernized wainscoting, and even brick. Especially in the hand-formed version, which makes it irregular and therefore even more beautiful.
Will hand-formed brick be part of the interior design trends for 2025? Absolutely. As we’ve already mentioned, it’s irregular, “imperfect,” and each one is slightly different from the next. This means a wall made of this type of brick will lack a certain geometricity and repetition. It also preserves the austerity of the overall interior design, which will also be a key trend in 2025. It’s worth combining brick with concrete, wood, and metal, in any proportions.
Hand-formed brick can be used in any room. It’s perfect for walls in the living room, kitchen, and even bathrooms. It’s worth noting that ceramic tiles are being phased out in both bathrooms and kitchens. A trend toward change in this regard has been noticeable for some time. The 2025 season has already eclipsed traditional ceramic tiles in favor of bricks.
Hand-formed brick can be incorporated into all walls in the bathroom. It’s worth complementing the décor with raw elements in a matte finish and geometric shapes. However, it’s worth noting that this option is more suitable for owners of slightly larger bathrooms.
Another option is to create just one brick wall. This style will be slightly more balanced. It’s also worth noting that this arrangement works better in smaller bathrooms.
Rustic brick can be used not only in the bathroom but also in the living room or kitchen.
Fans of brick walls will undoubtedly be delighted that this trend is continuing to dominate. As mentioned in the opening paragraphs, the upcoming season will appreciate a variety of textures – brick will be a perfect fit. A brick wall will add a lot of variety to any room.
One idea is to use a brick wall in the kitchen. You can use any type of brick for this purpose. Hand-formed brick is perfect for adding a rustic feel to the kitchen. Such a room will gain a lot of warmth, which can be complemented with the right furniture. For example, an aged sideboard that looks as if it were an inheritance from your grandmother will work perfectly.
What are the disadvantages of this solution? It’s worth remembering that installing hand-formed brick requires some work. If you’re not planning major renovations, clinker brick is easier to attach to the wall. These brick tiles can simply be glued on. However, if you have the time and resources, it’s worth considering installing hand-formed brick.
The design of any interior will become much more interesting if you incorporate brick elements – whether hand-formed brick or tiles.
Where else can brick work well? Of course, in living rooms and family rooms. Looking through ideas for using brick in the living room, you’ll notice that brick is also used in small or localized areas.
One option is to use a brick wall as a backdrop for home electronics. Brick in the living room can be placed along the entire wall next to the home theater. We can also section off part of the wall, for example, in a strip just slightly wider than the TV.
A wall-mounted TV works well in this arrangement. It’s worth complementing the overall look with minimalist furniture. What furniture should you choose for this space? Low-ceilinged furniture in a matte black or wood finish is best.
Brick in the living room will add a multi-dimensional touch to the entire arrangement. In the case of a TV wall, you’ll quickly notice how unevenly the bricks illuminate. If you place lamps on the TV stand, illuminating the wall from below, you’ll create a beautiful play of light and shadow. It’s precisely for these fantastic visual effects that brick is so beloved. Hand-formed brick, in particular, is irregular, creating even more interesting effects.
Brick in the living room also means a fireplace. If you’re building a house, it’s worth considering using hand-formed brick for the fireplace surround. If you’re not planning a major renovation, you can use brick tiles.
How to do this? Simply use brick around the fireplace. It’s also worth using the same tiles to line part of the wall. For example, you can arrange the tiles in a strip the same width as the fireplace and extend it all the way to the ceiling. This will create an interesting division of space.
Using brick tiles or hand-formed brick can also create a separate seating area, for example. To achieve this effect, brick in the living room should be placed, for example, in the corner of the room where we plan to place a large corner sofa. This way, we can introduce a bit more order into the interior.
Brick in the living room definitely makes the entire interior design much more attractive. But could the choice of brick shade be important in this case? We’ll answer this question in the next paragraph.
Some time ago, we probably wondered whether color was even an issue when it came to brick. After all, “brick is brick,” and brick red is a term that has been in use for many years. And yet! Brick doesn’t have to come in just one color, but in… a truly wide variety.
White or gray brick brings to mind associations with Scandinavian interiors. It gives the room a slightly colder feel, so it’s a good idea to add warmth with furniture. If you like Scandinavian décor, you can incorporate it into your other interior design elements. If not, it’s worth breaking up the style with, for example, rustic or futuristic furniture.
Using black brick is also an interesting idea – although it’s worth remembering that black is a challenging color. Black brick tiles will work well in kitchens, for example, where they should be paired with white kitchen cabinets, countertops, or tables.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning the typical “brick” color, which is incredibly diverse – it encompasses many shades. Hand-formed brick can range from darker cherry reds to lighter rusty oranges. This allows for a wide range of colors. Therefore, natural brick shades seem to be the most attractive. Perhaps precisely because they are natural – and in the 2025 season, we will also be focusing on this naturalness.
Although available in a variety of shapes and colors, hand-formed brick will undoubtedly be the most popular in the 2025 season. Why? Due to both its irregularity and natural color, hand-formed brick is winning the hearts of both designers and users. Interior designers have been eagerly using it for some time now, but it’s safe to say that 2025 will be the year of hand-formed brick.
